Four Days Later & More Snow

Two snow storms hit central Arkansas four days apart. My poor azaleas are not going to bloom for Easter as I had hoped. Although the accumulations were not as treacherous as predicted, we had plenty for another day of fun.

We truly lack ANY ability to build a decent snowman!! This is really an embarrassment in our front yard.

JR Custom Jigs

Jeremy and Jeremy Stehle had an afternoon jig tying session. Jeremy is very passionate about his custom jigs, and there has been a growing demand for them among UALR’s biology department and Academy Sports & Outdoors employees.

Trout Fishing

I am extremely late posting these pictures from December. Jeremy spent the day trout fishing on the Little Red River near Heber Springs, AR. Here is a picture of a brown trout. I can't get over how spectacular the colors of this fish are. What beautiful creatures of God!

Snowy Day in Arkansas

Strangely enough, it snowed the fourth day of March. And being Carolinians, we know little about snow! We had never heard of or experienced "thunder snow" until recently. It happened again last night. While snowing at 32 degrees, it is thundering and lightening. Considering Saturday’s beautiful weather, we were hard pressed to believe it could snow two days later. Saturday’s high was around 74, and Jeremy and I made a day of it. We played a little tennis and then went fishing on the AR River. Monday brought severe rains with over 2 inches falling in central Arkansas. Overnight, the rain changed to snow. By 3:30 am, we had a good coverage. Nevertheless, Little Rock schools were open at the usual 8:00 am. Dreading the horrendous drive into the city, Jeremy and I stayed in bed a few extra hours before leaving. When we left, Maumelle had accumulated just over two inches of snow. By this afternoon, very little snow remained. However, it was a nice surprise.

Crossing the Arkansas River

The Happiest Rottie of All Times

Living in Arkansas during the winter months requires a lot of tolerance for rain. I mean a heaping ton of tolerance. This also requires frequent baths for our resident swamp monster. Literally, our back yard has standing water for days, but that doesn’t stop the Rottie.

We Each Love Our Christmas Gifts

More Ducks

The Bayou Meto WMA, just outside Stuttgart, AR, attracts many dedicated duck hunters. Jeremy, Adam and many others participated in this daily scramble. Arkansas’ hunting regulations prohibits hunters from leaving the shores before 4:00 am. Therefore, at 4:00 am a discombobulated jon boat race commences. Although the video is dark, this gives you a glimpse of idiots in action. Mind you, the waterway is less than 12-15 feet wide with dry land on one side and flooded timber on the other. Enjoy the ride!!!

Christmas Back in Carolina

Who doesn't need more scrapbooking supplies?

Mom was able to find the gift I desired most this Christmas. I truly wanted a cast iron dutch oven, and I had just about given up hope before I opened my last gift. Honestly, I almost cried.
